Khiladi Kumar, Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia struggled a lot in his life to become the amazing inspiration of a person he is. He has worked as a street food vendor in Thailand to pay for his mixed martial arts training, he also waited tables. He then came to Mumbai in the hope to pursue modeling, one of his photographer friends recommended him to some agent and he got his start from there. And the rest is history.

Though his great movies are too many to count, let us look at ten of them on this list.

 Baby

Baby is a thriller and action film released in 2015. It starred Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, and Taapsee Pannu along with Akshay Kumar. Kumar plays a secret agent who gets hold of a terrorist and tries his best to save his country and countrymen from terrorist attacks. Baby was critically and commercially successful, earning about 150 crores. Akshay Kumar’s performance was generously praised by the critics and some even called it his best performance till date. Baby roused feelings of unity and nationalism among the viewers.

Airlift

Airlift is another thriller movie starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. It was released in 2016 and earned around 230 crores at the box office. This movie is about a businessman living in Kuwait who is responsible for evacuating the Indians out of that place after Saddam Hussain invaded Kuwait. It was based on the real-life incidents of Mathunny Mathews who had done something of this kind in the year 1990. Kumar plays the role of Ranjit Kayal, the businessman who stands up to the forces of Iraq and helps his countrymen move to safety. Airlift is one of the best films of 2016.

Rustom

Rustom is a 2016 film depicting the real events surrounding a Naval Officer named K.M. Nanavati who was accused of murdering businessman Prem Ahuja. The role of the naval officer was brilliantly played by Kumar. The film also starred Ileana D Cruz and Arjan Bajwa. It earned 215 crores approximately. The movie was critically acclaimed and cemented Akshay Kumar’s position as a serious and thoughtful actor.

Khiladi

Any list related to Akshay Kumar is incomplete without mentioning Khiladi. Released in 1992, Khiladi went on to become Kumar’s first major hit film and his path to stardom. His skills as an action hero were displayed in this film which also stars Ayesha Jhulka and Deepak Tijori. The film became so famous that a brand name was created after it. Several Khiladi movies were released in the subsequent years, like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi, Khiladi 420, etc. Akshay Kumar tasted his first success with this film, and a star was etched permanently in the sky of Bollywood.

Mohra

Mohra, released in 1994, is a political thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon in the lead roles, along with Suniel Shetty and Naseeruddin Shah. The film was highly praised and nominated for several awards. Its songs are loved even today. Akshay Kumar played the role of Inspector Amar Saxena who did his job against crime and criminals honestly. The film became the second-highest earner of 1994. It also did a great deal to boost Kumar’s career into the big league.

Kumar plays the character of Ajay who works with a team of heist criminals. The film was praised by critics and viewers alike, some calling it the best film of 2013. Along with Akshay Kumar, it starred Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, etc.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa

A psychological thriller, Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the Hindi version of a movie that had already been adapted into different languages. Here, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a psychiatrist who arrives at an old mansion to solve the mystery of a supposed haunting by a famous dancer of yesteryear. Reaching there, he comes across the manifestation of a mental disorder which has been termed the dissociative personality disorder by researchers. The movie has oodles of drama, comedy, thrill, horror, and romance. Kumar played his role brilliantly, adding unique quirks to his character.

Hera Pheri

Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty became the undisputed trio of comedies from this movie. This movie is full of famous Actors.

This movie by ‘Priyadarshan’ is an out-and-out comedy starring Kumar, Paresh Rawal, ‘Tabu’, and Suniel Shetty. Releasing in 2000, the movie has become a cult classic in Bollywood and one of the greatest comedy movies of all time. The eccentricities of the characters left the audience in splits. The characters of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao are known to any comedy fans. Hera Pheri proved that Akshay Kumar was as good a comedy actor as he was an action hero.

Aitraaz

Aitraaz is a thriller film by Abbas-Mustan starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Priyanka Chopra. It was released in the year 2004 and took Bollywood by storm. The theme of this movie is quite controversial and shows a man being falsely accused of sexual harassment by his lady boss. Aitraaz was praised for its style and boldness. The lead actors performed quite well and made the film gripping and impactful.

Khatta Meetha

Khatta Meetha is a 2010 comedy film starring Akshay Kumar and Trisha Krishnan. Here, Akshay played the role of a common man who is struggling to live life comfortably, let alone chase his dreams. The character was funny and adorable, giving Kumar a chance to portray a character different from the strong, brave ones that he usually does. The critics and audience had a mixed response to the film, but it is undeniable that its core is heartwarming.
